Safc Vtec?

I saw that the rx-7 store is selling 2 SAFCs. The only difference between the 2 are that one has a VTEC controller. My question is what good is it on an engine that doesn't have any cams and valves?

you can use it as a shift light!!!

no, seriously, all a VTEC controller is is something that reads in an RPM and when it reaches that RPM or above, it sends a signal out a wire.

I wouldn't think it would be use at all personally. The vtec controllers are used to activate vtec on hondas/acuras at different rpm points. This is useful if agressivr cams are bought, a lot of the time the engine bogs big time when the switch occurs to the big lobes so you can use the vtec controller to change vtec engagement and I also think it can be used like a safc

So why even offer the VTEC version if its not needed for our engines? Only reason I can see is that they use the VTEC option for something else.

LOL.
Apex'i offers car parts for more than just RX-7's. Take a look at their applications charts for exhaust, and you'll see they are a company for all types of imports.
They sell the VTEC version for Honda's to use to control their VTEC engines, not for use on RX-7's. In fact, most of their products, such as the SAFC, where just developed for imports in general, and it just so happens that they happen to work great on our cars too.

Maybe you can use it to activate the 6 port, not in your case!

I understand that Apexi makes universal performance stuff for imports but the fact that the VTEC one was for sale at the rx7 store made me wonder.
