SAFC on a NA?
ok newbie here when it comes to preformance mods.
what is SAFC
&
is it true that it can be used on a NA engine to gain a few extra HP?
how does it accomplish this?
thanks

To get a smooth idle & sliky smooth power, Mazda programmed the ECU on the rich side.
You can lean it for a little more power & fuel economy, but it will run a little rough.

^^ Well upgrading your exhaust will help with or without an SAFC. Now an SAFC can give you a few extra horsepower, but it needs to be tuned properly. I use mine for lowering the low rpm range fuel, so I can get a little better fuel economy. For the cost it is an ok mod, but for a few hundred more you can just go Megasquirt so you might want to look into that. Search megasquirt on the 2nd gen forum or go to the MS section.

Running too lean can result in cat-melting EGTs though. Never actually heard of that happening...
