How would you change it? if you want to change at 8k, then wait till you get to 8k then shift. Unless you have an auto or something?
Also depends on what boose you are running. Stock, I don't think it is worth it. You won't get anything more out of it,

With a completly stock S5 turbo...running the rpm up to 8k would do nothing but ....
Overwhelm a stock intercooler and you can watch the boost drop off since you are way outside the efficecy range of the stock turbo.

In general, a "redline" is the maximum (sustained?) RPM's a motor can handle at any one time.
There *is* a reason for it and how it's set.
Sure, the stock redline can be conservative, but it's still a very good limit for your engine.
