s5 turbo motor in a 87 turbo body
I got a 87 turbo 2 and I blew the rear seal. I can get a s5 long block to replace the current motor. Does anyone know what i need or the modifications necessary to make the car run properly?

Best thing to do would be to remove the front cover from the s5 motor and replace it with the s4, then drop it in using all your s4 stuff. All the s5 longblock stuff is going to be a bitch to put in because of the wiring, OMP, TB, etc. You can use the s5 turbo and manifold though, that's not a big deal.

> Just do a rat's nest delete to simplify things. I just did an S4 to S5 swap and did away with all the emissions and that lovely clusterf..k under the top mount. Just fired it up two days ago, sounds like a champ. AS for the S4 stuff, not too sure how it will do, all I know is that the S4 and S5 turbo compressors are the same, but the turbine housings are different. Hope that helps a bit.

alright youll need a **** load of stuff, i did the swap myself and am still running the stock ecu as of now, but im getting a haltech next week.
youll need an s4 turbo
well i did a s5 turbo into a s4 n/a so it was alittle more difficult for me.
but youll just have to rewire and splice in a bunch of wires. i recommend getting a s4 and s5 turbo wiring diagram.
things such as tps, bac, injectors cause youll have to use the s5 injectors which are high impedance, which will then in return cause you to bypass your solenoid resistor.
the wiring is just a pain in the ***.. i recommend getting a shop to do it. not to mention the s4 turbo ecu can barely hold its own. your probbaly gonna have to be very light with the car since the s5 turbo motor has more compression and more boost.
youll also have to get the s4 turbo front cover and OMP since the s5 motor is electronic and the s4 one is oil injected. youll have to make your own custom OMP pull rod since the s4 turbo throttle body sits different.
youll also have to swap over your turbo oil return line since youll have the s4 turbo front cover on.
but then again if you went standalone you could just sit the s5 motor in your car run wires get rid of all the nasty **** like the AFM and itll start right up with no problems and be safe to drive hard, not to mention your gas mileage will be better due to the tuning. but then again thats just me.

Ok, lets make this official. I can use the short block, turbo included. But what i have to do is swap manifolds, front cover, injectors, and everything else.
Come on lets get technical guys, im tryin to enjoy my summer as well, not dream about a good one.
By the way, the car is a 1987 "TURBO 2", not a converted n/a. I still have all the s4 turbo stuff, so i can swap whatever i have to.
