S5 TII transmission in S4
HI
First off I did use the search and got alot of conflicting information.
I read that to use an S5 transmission in an S4 you just need to change the crossmember.
But for TII I read that S5 TII and S4 TII transmissions are the exact same.
So my question is whether the S5 TII and S4 TII are the same transmission?
Im looking to swap a turbo engine in an S4 and want to know if and S5 trans works.
Also does an S5 TII diff and axles bolt right into an S4?
And are the S5 TII and S4 TII driveshafts the same? I know turbo is different then nonturbo, but not if the s4 TII and s5 TII are the same or different.
Thanks

the drive shaft splines are diferent. if u use the s5 t2 trans in a na s4 body you need to get the adapter driveshaft from mazdatrix the na is thiner than the t2 also the bolt patern on the t2 is different than the na on the rear diff

you also need a throwout bearing and clutch set up for it.
Funny because they list one set up when buying aftermarket, but if going stock the fork, throwout bearing, and clutch/PP are different.
Its easy to mess with though because you can just change the front cover on the transmission, I JUST went through this.
