S5 TII side skirts, repair of a cracked piece?

S5 TII side skirts, repair of a cracked piece?
Does anybody know the type of plastic used for these pieces? I took it to a plastic specialty shop but they couldn't seem to determine what it was.
I have one that has a couple of cracks that need to be repaired before it can be painted and installed.
I have been warned by the body/paint shop that if not done properly the crack will reappear.
So.. has anybody out there sucessfully repaired one of these and know what I should use, or know what doesn't work?
It would not be shame to save it...

are you sure you have stock S5 TII side skirts?
I have a pair in my garage that are made of urethane. stock bumpers and side skirts are made of the same material.
BTW, your lip is coming along nicely. Should be done in a few more days. I have successfully fixed urethane side skirts with fiberglass for reinforcement and bondo on the paint side to cover the crack. If you would like me to do them for you, send them to me and I'll ship them back with your lip.

Yup, I'm sure that they are factory pieces, they even have the correct part numbers cast right into them.
They are a similar color where they are not painted as compared to the front and rear bumper covers, but the bumper covers are way more flexible when compared to the skirts.
Only one of the 4 pieces has a few cracks, 2 of which are on the bottom (out of sight), only one on the side that needs to repaired and made invisible for a good paint finish.
I was thinking of using a plastic welding compound with some thin aluminum on the back-side to reinforce the repairs.
They are a similar color where they are not painted as compared to the front and rear bumper covers, but the bumper covers are way more flexible when compared to the skirts.

I talked to a shop that specializes in custom paint and motorcycle fairing repairs.
They said 'panel bond' is the stuff to use, backed with a bit of fiberglass tape, even suggested the cracks be patched inside and out for the best strength.
