S5 Redline Question: All Cars Have 8K Redline? Only NA? Mine Is 7K.

Mushiki yours uses a distributor correct?
i was in a similar situation as u...until i did a full TII Jspec swap
i'm guessing your South American Spec is similar to the Middle East spec
check out this thread for more info:

Mine is FC1032-200343, yours is FC1032-200400 according to the pictures you posted in that thread.
The interior looks the same as well, with rear seats and all.
My car didn't have the original wheels except the replacement one in the back, which looked like this:
-- other similarities:
and the engine bay looks like this:
... I am sooo confused now...

You have these options
A) Regular S5 NA cluster, tach went dead, replaced with tach with 7k redline
B) Cluster died, replaed with TII cluster and put in voltage gauge instead of boost gauge
C) Some weird foreign cluster
You decide, perhaps you could check the part number on the back of the cluster and find out?

no need to be confused my friend
we have the same spec
South America, Middle East and New Zealand..
basically,
We have the S5 body
with an S4 N/A motor (hence the lower Redline)
S4 flap type Airflow meter...
with a 1st Gen (SA22/FB) ignition system
we run a fuel only computer no ignition maping only a vacuume advancing Distrubutor
our cars were basically made from left over parts that mazda didn't want :p
my motor had problems with the secondaries not coming on... I got tired of trying to trouble shoot it.. the chassis only had 90,000 Km's on it (5x,000miles)
so i converted it all to a Turbo II..
removed the dashboard and everything... JDM motor, wiring,Ecu FTP's gauge cluster etc...
i suffered alot with this car, cuz these forums have no knowledge about the engine... it's totally diff then theirs... ignition stuff u have to reference first gen cars, fuel stuff early FC's.. etc.. and some things are totally Unique... Like the Airflow meter reading
Good luck my friend.. ur gonna need it

he has a distributor, that explains it!
yeah those models are fairly odd and i never understood what the exact deal was. i'm guessing it was a financial issue on Mazda's part (i.e. them trying to maximize money).

hmmmm, my car was an automatic (91' N/A) and the guy switched it over to manual and i have my redline at 7k because he didnt change the tach. Anyway yours isnt an auto tach because it doesnt have the PRNDSL thing below the X1000 on the tachometer. It could be turbo but the only problem with that is, i thought all turbo's came with boost meters on the gauge cluster. I'm probably wrong about that as i usually am.........so i have no idea what ur problem could be.

there's no problem
that's just the spec his car came with.. it's "normal" for South america, middle east and New Zealand

Don't know if the link will let you see the picture but that is a stock s4 86 gxl na cluster. I would rule out s4 cluster from the list of things yours might be. Just putting in my 2cents and help.
