Yes, running with no OMP will cause limp mode.

just hook up the OMP box and leave it plugged in strapped somewhere in the engine bay.

i hooked up the omp it runs better but wont idle for ****. i found out that if i press the afm in mid ways it will rev past 5k with the tb closed which leads me to beleive that there must be a massive vaccume leak. i have taken off my manifold countless times and have found nothing. it will rev its heart out when i press the pedal now but it wont think about running under 2k. what does this sound like to you guys?

If you've got an engine light on then you have diagnostic codes stored that you need to read. If you have an S5 then get a wire and run it from the diagnostic plug to the neg. battery terminal. This will allow the computer to spit out the diagnostic codes, your engine check light will flash and these will tell you what some of the problems are. You can search the forum or get a haynes manual to find the code definitions and how to read the long & short flashes. Or you can take the car to a shop that can read your codes.

Before you start adjusting things that may not need adjusting, I would check out the codes first.
