S4 Turbo II S-AFC install
Which wire did you guys use for the RPM signal? I know it is supposed to be from the trailing coil, but according my Chilton's, there are three coming from the ECU (bl/yel, br/yel, bl/r). It also shows a wire (bl/yel) going from the coil to the tach but I don't believe that is anywhere near the ECU. I haven't seen where anybody describes connecting to any wires away from the ECU.
Also, what wire did you use for power. I wanted to stay away from main ECU power wire (wh/bl) since it is not switched...unless someone tells me that is the one to use.

i am not sure if it is really different for a tII, but when i installed mine on 86 gxl, all the wires wired to the ecu, none of them went to the coil paks, there shouldbe a wiring diagram in the box the SAFC came in, it includes a little picture of the harness and points to which wire is which

Actually, I bought it used and have a copy of the manual from their website. It contains a generic diagram and says "while referring to the vehicle specific wiring diagram tables"...
I guess I should clarify: I believe the rpm signal is supposed to come from one of the trailing coil signals. I think.

dude, u are missing an important manual, there are two books that came with it, one telling you how to tune it and one with an application and wire guide for like 500 cars, the rpm signal should come from the ecu, all wires should. check the apexi website, i think they have it online. or maybe soeone can scan their copy and post it for you. but i am almost 100% positive, all wires go to the ecu

Brian- I would love to wait but I am tired of my car sitting; especially since I have had all this work done. I want to drive it without the gas bill killing me!

You want pin 1X on the connector to the ECU according to my 1988 FSM. The 1987 engine harness I just installed was the same color wires on those 2 plugs, so connector 1 may have the same color coding as well. Looking AT the connector from the ECU side, 1X is the lower left wire and *should* be Blue wire/Yellow stripe. Plug #1 is the widest of the 3 that plug into the ECU. I would be more concerned in getting the right pin on the connector than the wire color.

I have the diff mount, TPS and "shift ****" coming in the mail—as well as most of the interior plastics (Thank you Chris Sanders)! Woohoo. Also, for ***** and giggles, I bought and installed AC and PS belts—they both work! I also resoldered the dummy lights today and it now works and keeps time! All the body work I can do is complete, pulled, filled, primered and wet sanded. As soon as I get the engine idling nicely and the diff mount installed I'll take it to the shop for the last of the body work and paint. The restoration is going MUCh faster than the last car.
That is all.
PS: Take notes on your SAFC install and tuning!
