s4 T2 training manual now available

Bumpstart scanned his copy of the s4 T2 training manual so thanks to him we now have a digital copy. It is an additional section to the training manuals that have been floating around various sites, which cover the s4 n/a engines and the rest of the chassis stuff. Some of the material is already found in the service manual, but there are a few interesting tidbits like this chart showing the effectiveness of the stock intercooler:

You can download the turbo training manual here from Google docs: https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&p...xYjIz&hl=en_US

(go to the File menu to download the document)

Yeah that sounds like a lot but that actually makes sense to me. Consider that the stock turbo compressor wheel isn't tiny but it's certainly not big, and those intercooler outlet temps really aren't that low. Most guys with an FMIC will try to keep their post-intercooler temps at 130F or less.

there is a OLD (1988!) grassroots motorsports article where they measure the IC at about 65% efficiency. actually henrik has posted some logs with pre and post iC temps too.

i've never done pre and post temps my self, but doing repeated 2nd-3rd-4th freeway pulls reveals that the intake temps are pretty stable.

j9fd3s has scanned the s5 service highlights and I have compiled them into a document for everyone. Here are a couple pages. First is a diagram of the s5 OMP:

and here is a diagram of the combustion bathtub for the rotors:

You can view the document here:

https://docs.google.com/open?id=0Bzo...Y3YWJmZjczYWI4

Sections included in this document are:

1. Engine
2. Lubrication
3. Cooling
4. Fuel & Emissions (non-turbo)
5. Fuel & Emisisons (turbo)

The individual sections are bookmarked but I don't think Google Docs lets you use that feature, but you can click "download original" and open with another PDF reader.

j9fd3s has scanned part 2 of the S5 Service highlights. It includes these sections:

Manual transmission
Automatic Transmission
Viscous LSD
Steering System
Braking System
Suspension
Body
Body Electrical system

Each section has been bookmarked. You should be able to see them if you download the file. Probably the most interesting and useful thing here is the section on the Viscous LSD.

thanks for the scans guys.

Going to go over it during break time at work. Skimmed through it and its an interesting read. Reading about the vdi operation is a good read.
