S4 SE breaking relighablity
Im in the middle of and S5 JDM swap. But its going in to an S4 SE. The engine is going to be boosting at 10psi and is street ported. I was wondering how relighable the SE breaks will be with the increased amount of HP/Torque. Should my next upgrade be breaks? I was looking at getting the FD breaks. BUT if the SE breaks are ok for what im doing then i had a couple other upgrades that i was going to do first.

You have to swap the 4-lugs to 5 lugs to upgrade the "breaks" as both FD's and T2's are 5 lug.
Also If you kept the 14x5.5 inch phone dials with a "jdm s5 swap" The car would be severly traction limited. Also your perfromance tire choices would be non existant.

looks like my first upgrade are brake then. If the fds wont bolt on i guess ill have to go after market. im not to worryed about traction and stuff. i dont drive around like speed racer 24/7. I just have normal A rated tires on there now. No big deal to me. But thanks for lettin gme know about having to switch over to get the fd calipers on there.

I don't think there is a brake upgrade for 4-lugs, other than doing a 5-lug swap and putting on the vented 4-pot brakes. As for traction, its not a matter of driving fast, its a matter of safety. My NA would be maxing out the tires you could fit on the stock phone dials, and it has about as much power as the stock TII engine. Just think of trying to drive it in the wet. I know you like the phone dials, but you are crippling the car by keeping them and the 4-lug setup. The swap will be a waste of money, because you aren't going to be able to use the turbo engine with such small tires.

Doesn't a couple Porsche 944's have some 5 lug phone dial rims? If you want to keep the look and upgrade your brakes, look into that. I don't know if the bolt pattern or offset will work but it is worth a try.

hmm thats true, ive never seen any 5 lug patterns though that are simlar to the phone dials. Ill look in to the porsche rims. I jsut gotta find a way to get that ugly thing on there. I dont wanna do the swap. ALthough i could just get a donner car. ill worry about all this after the break in though. Right now the swap is kicking my ***. Ive found upgraded aftermarket brakes for the 4 lug s4.
