S4 to S5 Turbo swap question

Hi all!!

I am in the middle of swaping the S4 turbo to S5 and the question is:

What alterations do I need to make it work?

Thanks..

Doug

All you need is the manifold. The original oil lines, water lines, TID and exhaust just bolt up. You’ll need to cap the line that went to the twin-scroll actuator, and cap (or remove) the tee in the new turbo’s wastegate actuator line.

Save the tee if you ever want to add ~5 psi quickly

-Not responsible for engine damage.

Thanks Jason !!

I am assuming you talking about the using the S5 manifold right? Also, what's TID?

Thanks,

Doug

Turbo inlet duct.

Yes, he meant the S5 manifold. The S5 swap is pretty straightforward.

I was thinking of using the old manifold to be still able use the twin-scroll actuator? would this be a problem? I am affraid that the new manifold w/o the actuator would effect the turbo, but I don't know.

Thanks,

Doug

No can do, they have a different bolt pattern.

The turbine housings are different, and won't bolt up. You have to use the manifold.

The S5 turbo doesn't need twin scroll, it has a much nicer fully divided manifold. Just use a vacuum cap to plug off the line that leads to the actuator.
