S4 cold start issue

S4 cold start issue
Cold start with me off the throttle: Runs up to about 2k rpm and misses on the way up there, then drops to about 1k rpm and misses for a few seconds. If I take off at that point is misses pretty bad and the more throttle I give it the more it lugs the engine. All that is worse case and I've never had it die.
The way I've been cold starting it: Let it run up to 2k rpm missing as the rpm rises, but I'll keep my foot on the throttle at 2k rpm for 15-20 seconds. Let my foot off, idle drops to 1500 and idles smooth. Let it warm up for a minute and take off. After a few minutes full throttle is pretty good.
New plugs, wires and fuel filter.
Ideas?

How do I know if it's running on one rotor? It's a bad miss and until it's warm it really boggs under heavy throttle. In neutral if I give it heavy throttle when it's cold it misses so bad it will not climb above 4-5k rpm.
Can I check the plugs? Will that tell me if it's running on one rotor?
THANKS!

The fuel injectors are supposed to be brand new. If it was staying open, why would it correct itself after abut 15 seconds of idle?
Thanks guys. I appreciate the input.

fuel injectors are brand new, i bought and installed them. I also installed a mazdatrix fuel bleed off thing that i had layin around. You may have to check the cold start system and thermowax. Kevin Landers if you could chime into this im sure he could have some good ideas.
jason does it ever flood to where you cant start it
if it was running off one rotor it would shake heavily have no power
do a compression test
when i did it with the motor a operating temp i got 93psi front and rear rotor
also it is very cold right now, i always warm up my rx7s before i run them hard,

Okay, to clear this up a little for those who don't know me...I don't fire up a rotary and take off flogging it down the road. I've experimented quite a bit with this GTU to see what the symptoms are.
I'm not thinking it's the engine as it does fire right up and once it's warm it does accelerate okay.
The pulsation damper did have the screw laying in the cap so I popped it back in and tightened it down. I plan on doing the banjo bolt mod, but would the PD affect the idle?
John can get back on here if he'd like and let you know what he thinks of the cold start-up/throttle response. We talked over the phone and he heard the GTU, so maybe his description would help.

sounds like it loads up with fuel a little when cold, it is about 17 -25 degrees outside here in MO, maybe fuel isnt atomizing when its this cold, maybe the cold start assist system? thermo wax
car has new injectors , fuel filter , spark plugs, wires
guys throw out some ideas on this one
thanks john

...and "loads up a little bit" is an understatement. It's really bad...it's almost impossible to drive until it's warmed up.
I'll do a search on a few of the items mentioned.
Thanks!!
