RX7 S5 TII - Will prolonged idle cause engine wear?
I use to store the car in the box for the fall and winter season. It stays stored for at least 6-8 months. During this period i use to start the car every 2,5/3 weeks and keep the engine at idle for 45/50mins letting the engine, the oil and the coolant to fully warm.
My question is: does this prolonged idle "sessions" (10 hours of idling in an year) cause engine wear? I'm using the stock OMP pump oil injection system that in my car works well. Do you think that the oil injected for prolonged idle is enough?
Also: i'm using premium fuel that contains cleaning additives. Do you think that keeping the engine at prolonged idle with so small oil injected inside combustion chamber by oil nozzles will clean the engine internals from carbon buildup (carbon buildup is mainly caused by burned oil)?
Thank you very much.

Original owner, '89TII, with the OEM engine, same as the '88 TII, if they sat for a long period they sounded
like a sewing machine and wouldn't start without using ATF to build compression, so I would start the car
and let it run for short periods over the winter. This all changed with the Mazda remanufactured engine that
was installed back in 2002, never had this problem.
As example, didn't use the car last October thru April, no problem, and this past Saturday, first time since
April, and once again, no problem, started right up.
