RX7 Pricing.

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
Yes, the FC started at just under $12k new in '86 and went up to around $28k for a new fully loaded T2 or 'vert in '91.
The FD started around $29k in '92 and went up to almost $42k late 94 fully loaded (although most sold for much closer to $35k new).
Plus the average FC is well over 14 years old while the oldest FD is only 10 years old.
The FD is a radically different car than the RX-8. If anything I would expect the FD (and all RX-7s) price to go up a little (with increased demand) when the RX-8 comes out.

Actually, if the RX-8 is as successful as we all hope, specialized 2nd Gens like the Vert, GTUs, and T2 should improve in value also.
IMHO, the resale value of the 2nd Gen Rex (or even 1st Gen)is far below their true value (price any other car that has 4 piston brake calipers) because of the general mass population non-understanding and thus discomfort of having a Wankle under the hood.
As the interest grows for the RX8, so should the interest in Wankle cars in General.
Side note, how many started drooling at the picture in the April Road and Track suggesting the rebirth of the original 2 seater Cosmo with a Rx8 type Wankle under the hood?

I agree with Icemark. Some people (me included) think a sports car should have two doors, not four, so they might look around for other rotary vehicles and (re)discover the FD.
If only they'd bring the FD back to the states. *sigh* Renesis-powered with a T04 strapped to it. The very thought could drive one to sport a chub.![Smilie](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Maybe 2nd gens, will sell for what they are really worth. If you look at what they currently sell for, and compare the price to similar cars, the value is out of this world.
