Rx7 newb wanting to mod an 88 TII
#26
Make your 7 "faster" where?
Faster than what?
Before you consider "mods", first consider where you are now.
Assuming your car is unmolested- are the bushings in good shape, are the shocks OK, are the springs uncollapsed?
Are your tires in good shape and is the alignment good?
If the answer to any of the above is "No" or "I don't know", then that's where you start.

Did the previous owner tell you the age of the tires? Given how little the car was driven, it is possible they are quite old. I bought a super-low mileage car back in 1995 and it still had the OEM tires on it. Though the treads were great, there was quite a bit of dry rot visible in the sidewall. If the tires on your car are over 10 years old and haven't been used very much, I'd make updating them a priority.

as soon as i got the car i took it to my mechanic and had them change all of it... after reading more on these forums it seems like i am going to change all the fluids again and plugs and wires

for suspenion wise it depends on what your going to do with the car, if you just want to lower it and give it alittle stiffer suspenion go with tein s-teck springs and tokico blues struts, but if you want something more agressive and get coilovers, fully adjustable the dampning, ride height, camber angle, there are alot possibiltys you could do just depends on what your looking for

sounds like you found a gem. i wish my s4 had low miles like that!
i personally wouldnt worry about making it faster until after you put some sort of suspension on it and learn how to use the stock powerband to its full extent.

I was just about to say "post some pics already!" but here they are, and it is glorious!
Congratulations on a terrific find.
It's a shame these cars tend to wind up rotting in a yard or are completely bastardized and sold for scrap. $28000 back in 1988 was NOT cheap at all. Oh well, at least they are not $28000 now because none of us would have one!

Wow this thread just made me curious, why do u u guys say a rewired fuel pump, my fc is making 230hp at the wheels and to my knowledge the fuel system is completely standard, its only reving to 6.5k though. When i got the car i just had it spun up on the dyno and the mechanic just checked what the injectors were running at, they are up around 90% at the moment so thats limiting the car

Should put the stickers back on the windows and see if someone will give you $28,000 for it. I'd probably almost **** my self if I was driving by and stopped and saw an 88 rx7 TII with the window stickers on it!... Head turner for sure... Ha ha!

SO thats what my car looked like when it was new.. LOL
I have an 88 TII with same aero.(The aero thing in front of the rear wheel.)
If you are going to mod this car. GO BALLER with it. As in, respected name brands.
RB dual exhaust.
Stock intake will HELP KEEP BOOSt at stock levels as im finding out the hard way.
Fuel cut defender incase the RB exhaust boost past 8.5psi
The RB exhaust i consider "hidden mod" heh its soo nice and stock looking its not even funy.
Its even prety damn quite.

They are becoming increasingly hard to find intact due to age and abuse.
