rx7 mods

Well i just bought my first rx7 and love it. I'm just researching about the rotary engine so i don't know a lot. I just want to know about some quick mods. The car already came with a custom exhaust. Also I have two engines and transmissions to work with I actually have two cars but one is for parts. I would appreciate any type of modifications until I save up enough to do some serious tunning. Thanks

Not really. Most folks will advise you against synthetics in the motor. Unless it has been tampered with, there should be a oil metering pump that injects oil directly into the combustion chamber to lubricate the rotors. If you search a bit you will find pro's and con's in other threads (regarding injecting the synthetics into the motor) that explain it better than I ever could. The consensus here seems to be running Castrol GTX 20w-50 in their engine. Don't forget the LSD additive for the lsd when you are changing it (if you have a GXL).

As for basic mods i'm assuming you mean power adders. Since you already have an exhaust you might as well go for more bolt-on's and get an intake and header. I'm happy with my K&N cone filter, but if you have an S4 you'll need an adapter to bolt it up where your stock air box used to be (S5 you don't). As for headers you'll have to search to find the best for your application as price and build vary from manufacturer. Some have a bung to help in the activation of your auxiliary ports if you plan on deleting the cats (again, only necessary on the S4).

Other than that, do a 60k tune up (plugs, wires, fluids, etc...) and you'll be a lot happier in the long run and get a bit more familiar with the 7. Keep up on those oil changes and you'll get a lot more longevity out of it as well.

Other than that, there's a lot you can do regarding brakes, anti-sways, tires, and power. Your best bet is to use the search function as there are a lot of threads covering most of these topics already.

Here's a few sites to help you if you want to do some online pricing....

yeah by mods I mean power adders I have a k&N filter with bigger gauge spark plug wires. Yeah I was reading about that using synthetic oil in rotary engines is not good and castrol gtx 20w 50 is better.

Here is another question for anyone who may know. I met a guy who says that rebuilds 2nd gen 7's and he said he uses two stroke motor oil evertime he fills up instead of engine oil. He says no oil is needed.

He's premixing 2-stroke probably because he disabled his OMP. It's a better way to lubricate the seals and rotors as the OMP can fail. You don't have to do it if your OMP is still functioning. It's not a performance modification in regards to horsepower. It's just to be extra sure that oil is getting in there.

Do a search for "premix" and you'll get all kinds of threads.

P.s. if your oil metering pump is working I would not bother putting premix in the gas tank when you fill up. My OMP was blocked off when I bought my rebuild so I have to every time.

You have an N/A, and after exhaust and intake increases in power are tougher to get and more expensive. Streetporting would probably be the next step. Suspension and tires are important to good handling of increased power.

Adding 2 stroke to the gas is called premixing. Run a search on premix and you'll find lots of discussions on this topic. Make sure you read throught the FAQ section and learn how to search so's you don't get flamed asking stuff that's already been discussed many times before.
