RX-8 6-Speed transmission on a FC
Whats up forum,
I got a rx8 motor and transmission and am planning on using the 6 speed with my FC/FD Single turbo motor in my 90 GTUs widebody. If I dont sell it within this month.I talked to members on the rx8 forums and they told me it would mate up, Great. So taking measurements and adapting the RX8 transmission mounts with a custom mount to fit the stock FC bolting locations if possible.
I plan on getting the transmission Rebuilt and Cryo treat all the gears and do whatever possible to handle about 400 horses.
I don't know anybody who has done this swap yet but if so please post some info on this.
I will be getting started in 1-2 months.

Not going to touch the rest of the post.......but:
The cryo treating probably is going to be an exercise in opening and closing your wallet more than anything else. The weak point in both these (FC) and the RX-8 transmissions is the case not the gears. It will split from the pressure before the teeth on the gears begin to break apart.
Good luck........

I only agree with half that. The cryo treating is a waste of money. The weak part of the 6spd isn't the case though, it's the 2nd gear hub. Call 7's Only racing and talk to Tom, trust me.
I hope you hate either hate your interior, your firewall, or your bank account. The 6spd is almost an entire FOUR inches shorter than the FC. So, put your shifter in first, third, or fifth gear, measure 4 inches farther forward and tell me where you land It in no means bolts in or fits easily. Trust me, I was offered one for basically free and went through so many different scenarios for making it fit it was painful.
Do some searches and you will see. Been covered twice in as many days I believe

The transmission is about 4 inches too short so you will need to modify the shifter or remount the engine just to get the shifter into the car.
The gearing is set for a engine that does 3000 rpm at 60 mph in top gear... about 1000 rpm too high for a non MSP-RE motor. With FC 13B motor, you would have the same RPMs at 60 as you do at 80... limiting the top end and ******* gas mileage up good.
A custom drive shaft will be needed.
This has all been covered in the last week as well as in the FAQ for FC and countless other threads.
