Rx-7 project

YAY!! first of all my loved the Rx-7 !! he said that he would buy it if I do well in school and thats assured allready !!

now I got these little doubts that I was wondering:
the small mods Im thinking of dooing:

3" piping to stock Y and mufflers
put the stock Intercooler on the front (FMIC)

that's for starters cause Im kinda short on money until summer..
my questions are:
will that increase my boost enough that I need a anti fuel cut thing? (FCD I think :P)
is it easy to put the stock IC on the front?
should I put a new radiator on the car ?

thx in advance

1. There will be more boost, but an FCD is always a good idea.
2. As long as you're good at piping, there are af ew threads on this do a search for FMIC.
3. You shouldn't need one until you do bigger mods.

You will not need to upgrade the fuel system until you upgrade the turbo.

Thx
a few more doubts:
what's the stock boost ? and how much boost is gained with the RB turbo back system?

so I don't need to mess with the fuel system at all if I don't swap the turbo? sweet! should I port the wastegate with that little mod? if not what kind of mods can I do until I have do port them?

I wanted to reach 300hp (not at the wheels). is it possible with "simple" mods? what would it take?

Stock boost is between 8-10psi i think. With the catback you might get to 12. It would be a good idea to port the wastegate to prevent boost creep and you might also consider getting an SAFC-II if you can find one. It's a fuel/air controller that piggy-backs the ECU.

Yeah it's not cheap, but they're really nice to have. Considering the alternative is to buy a full aftermarket ECU at $1-2K I'd say it's not a bad investment.

I don't know, if he is going to try and make 12psi of boost he should probably get a better fuel pump and do the rewire. Don't you think. The injectors will be fine but the fuel pump won't in my opinion and like I said before do the rewire witch you will beable to find some good info on it! Very important to any tII.

this isn't even the same topic??? strange. Anyways there is no differance performance wise or durability wise. There are some differances but mainly in the emissions stuff and of course the fuel rails are oposite of aspec.

Before you do any mods, make sure it's running perfect via full tune up.

If you are looking for 300 hp at the flywheel, then I would suggest a turbo upgrade. A BNR upgrade (probably stage II) would do the trick. So heres what I would do:

3" Turbo inlet duct
3" Exhaust all the way back
Walbro Fuel Pump
Send turbo to BNR for stage II upgrade (they will also port the wastegate for you)
Boost controller
720CC secondary injectors
Rtek7 v1.7 ECU upgrade (the car must be an S4 for this)

This would probably be the cheapest way to that power level. Not the most tunable given the fact that it will use the RTek7 chip, but certainly much cheaper than getting a piggyback fuel controller or standalone.

thx..
what's the max power with the stock turbo? (porting the wastegate myself). cause I don't know who is BNR but I bet it's US based :p

3" Turbo inlet duct - don't know for sure what it is.. I kinda imagine but never seen one.. it's the tubes that come from the air filter and then go to the IC ?

you can make your own turbo inlet duct! all it is, is a piece of 3" tubing that goes from the turbo to the maf then from the maf to an adapter that you can get off ebay for like 10 bucks and then to a k&n cone filter off of ebay for like 30 or 40 bucks. The only difficult part about making your tid is that you have to have a nipple coming off of the metal tubing for an air supply line that goes to your bac I believe. Do some searches on it and you will see. If you don't have any emissions you don't need the nipple and it is very simple. Also the fuel pump rewire basically replaces the old fuel pump relay with a new one. What I noticed when I saw this was a 40psi reading on my fuel pressure gauge and never got above that however when I did this I got 40psi at idle and 50psi at wot and then it keeps rising with the more boost I have on it. Very Very Very good mod.

only 250hp :\ at flywheel or rwhp ?

so if I do the rewire mod I don't need to buy a new pump ?
