150 pounds lighter than the GXL. BTW

I am talking about a real race not a 1.4 mile run. the guys that started the thread is probalby going to race on a street from a roll not a dead stop. It might not be the deciding factor but it can't hurt to have a good ratio.

it's funny because not only is it hardcore bench racing, but most of the people doing it don't even know what they're talking about. oh well. i say just let this race of the underpowered NA's happen and see who wins.

If this is a Race from a roll then weight means almost nothing at all. Once you are moving the outcome of the race mostly depends on what car can put the most power to the ground. If its from a stop then weight means a lot more.
This is just simple Physics and you cant argue with the laws of Physics

VR4s regardless of if you think im misinforming everyone are 3800lbs or around and do not respond to mods. I did your 100 doller boost controller trick and squeezed 15psi and didnt tell much of a difference. Although we didnt gut the cat.
A stock 3rd gen still took us at the illegal drags by the way.

I'm with *a*jones*. I've driven a '95 SL (as mentioned in my previous posting on this thread), they really do handle like pigs. I also noticed there is a lot of misinformation on these threads.
Anyways, I haven't driven a VR4 so I won't comment or bash it. The 3000GT base and SL models are more like grand tourers than sports car. They're fairly comfortable, they look a lot better than FC's in my opinion, very nice interior, and seem to have decent torque. However, my FC seems much more responsive (FR, 50/50, 2650lbs) and is really quick to my inputs. The 0-60 and quarter mile times compared to the Base and SL models are quite similiar with the FC being a tick faster. However, the FC will out corner a base or SL model.
To me, they're different cars. I could have bought an older base or SL model, but the driving experience just didn't insire me like a 7 did. Oh, I'm sure the VR4 is fun to drive as well with the AWD layout. It does pack serious straight line speed as well. Hope this clears things up a bit.

The only place weight is really an issue is from a dig, or autox. The dig only for distribution from front to rear, obviously. You all talk about weight to hp as if they're going through some twisties.
And how fast is this kid with the n/a 7 gonna do these mods? If he's planning on a rebuild, and then doing all these suggested mods (exhaust, fuel, management), it'll take him about 2 to 3 weeks to be road ready, and that doesn't include tuning time.
The 3k is gonna eat him up. Sorry boys. I've owned an n/a 7, I've driven n/a 3k's. With light mods on the 3k (including ported heads), and a mildly modded 7 (including street port) I really don't see the 7 keeping up.
Your guys hp out put per mod is a little generous. I doubt he'll be seeing 190-200 rwhp with those mods. But like everyone says, you dump enough money into any car, it can be wicked fast. But we're talking 2000-4000 in mods... You're not going to be pulling all that hard unless you're spraying.
Roll-3k wins by 1 and a half cars. From a dig? Neck and neck. Depends on driver/launch. TII vs VR4? stock-vr4 both times. never driven vr4. Seen lots, raced one (I lost, we both had exhaust)-friend of mine.

One thing to remember is alot of 7s handle , feel and perform differently. I had 160rwp stock ports but it felt just as fast as my friends 124rwp 7 of the same year and weight. The reason being he had a clutch and it made all the difference. I think some people test bad cars...In all fairness both cars being 100 percent. I agree with jones. And mod for mod. Any N/A 7 will beat a SL as long as your making 140rwp or more on the 7. This is achieved easily through my expierience. WhenI was racing and beating them I had 140rwp. Then I dynoed after more mods like headers , TB , S-AFC and dynoed close to 160rwp. So..This is almost enoughf to take a VR4 from a roll 5krpms to 100mph ... Does anyone want to race and find out ?
