Rust: Problems, Solutions?

Rust: Problems, Solutions?
Yo,
I've never really dealt with a car that had a problem with a slightly rusted sunroof. How hard is it to fix? I assume, pull the glass & rack out, have to sand that area and paint it...
Anyone done it? How much money in parts would it cost around? Is it hard to do it the right way, or just a matter of time?
How much repainting is required?
And lastly... any way to stop the rust from spreading, assuming I can't fix it right away?
Thanks,

If its minor surface rust, you can sand it off. But if its already attacked much of the metal, then there is no hope. I've seen people sandblast it off, primer and paint it but it will come back.
Since its just the sunroof, the easiest way is just replace the panel. Usually rust on body panels needs to be cut out, and reweld in a new panel.

Replace it? o_O How expensive is that? heh..
I'm not sure, but I think the rust is actually around the edge of the sunroof, not on it... so yeah. =/
Any way to keep it from spreading? And surface rust meaning it hasn't actually eaten a noticable amount of metal away, correct?
Thanks =)

Pull the glass and rack?? Under the liner , there's 6 10mm bolts. The liner pops off. Grab the front and pull down but gently.
The easiest way is to get another sunroof. Someone was selling a carbon fiber roof. I wish someone made an aluminum replacement instead.
If there is a little spot rust, you need to sand it off completely and treat it with rustproof solution. I repaired mine when I found a rust spot and used RUST-X. It's good stuff for killing any rust. The hardest part is painting the roof and matching the paint. No matter how careful you are , there are no over the counter spray paint that will match.
Repair it, treat it ,sand it baby butt smooth and take it to a paint shop.
