Question Running wire through the firewall....

Routing some wire through the firewall.

Ok guys I am setting up my code checker but I don't know where there are places in the fire wall to pass cables to the engine bay and into the passenger compartment. I know there is a way but from what I can see around the interior fuse box I can't figure out where to poke'em through. :-/

Any help or ideas. I don't want to drill but it that is the ONLY way then out comes the dremel.

Thanks!

Santiago

I did the same thing last night. I plugged the wires into the check plug next to the battery. Next I unbolted the top row of bolts along the driver side fender and put the wires under there. If you push them all the way under, the fender won't clamp down on them. I ran them all the way up to the drivers door, and passed them into the compartment next to the door hinge. There was already a hole there, and they come through under the dash near the powersteering computer (if that is what that box under there is).

I ran mine through the dash , past the instrument cluster, and into the dash bezel. I have LEDs that have nuts on the back, so they screw into the frame of the dash flush mount like. I got a red light for the number 1 and a green one for he number 2. I haven't put it back together yet cause I accidently pulled the end off the speedometer cable trying to pull enough through the firewall to hook it up. I was too lazy to undo it from the transmission to create more slack. I know better now.

I only know of 10 also. Got them form here:

The ECU doesn't have a memory, so it will only throw codes as the error occurs. Primative, but it was one of the first cars to have an ECU where you could extract the codes without going to a shop and paying an arm and a leg.

Awesome! Anyways I can't finish the mini-ject today since I fogot the damned spade connectors. I don't want to solder it in incase I ever need to remove them for some reason.

I plan to make an aluminm plate for them to go in the radio area with some 52mm guages.

Why not just run the wires with the main (driver side) or engine harness (passenger side)? The pass thru holes and grommets have plenty of extra room for more wires.

I pulled both harnesses from an 88 and see no problem at all. Thats what I'm planning on doing.

Good Luck

Man, you guys are goin to a lot of trouble. I just passed my auxiliary wires right through the same grommet the throttle cable goes through. Piece of cake.

If people manage to run EVC harness wires, 4,2,and 0/1 gauge wires through to the cabin, i don't see a reason why you can't run two little wires there are tons of grommets, just peirce one and pass the wire through. Very easy
