running a TII without the turbo
so my car was stolen and the turbo was broken. i got the car running without the turbo (bypassing it completely.) it idles at 1500 but no less and cuts out at any more than 1/4 throttle and has trouble reving. im curious if this is a problem or if this would be expected. Im not planning on driving it like this i just want to know. compression checks out okay. all vac lines are capped
thanks
thanks

Only if you have full coverage heh, and if the cost ends up being more than half the value of the vehicle it becomes "totalled" so that would kinda suck.
Anyways, no that should not be expected. There are ppl that run 4ports with no turbo and it should be the same from what I know and have seen.

uhhh, i didnt ask about insurance. i asked if it should run okay or not. is it possible the AFM that i got is bad. would this be a sign of AFM falure (engine cuts out at more than quarter throttle, has trouble reving and wont idle below 1500 rpm)?
thanks.
thanks.

the engine should run similar to an n/a without a turbo on it, a bit lacking in power but it should run and rev fine. it is possible the AFM you got is bad, do a search on how to check for trouble codes and let us know what codes you have set.
wouldn't hurt to try changing the spark plugs also, fouled plugs would also cause the problems you described.

You can do this, and the thing should run normally provided your rerouting of the intake pathway is nice and tight with no leaks. That said, power will suck, not only because of the lower airflow (even when not yet in boost, the turbo is moving more air than the engine would suck in on it's own) , but because the ecu is mapped richer and with more timing retard than an n/a.
