Stock gaskets are the best, but you can use RTV. Most types will work as long as you make sure its high temp.

From the auto store you can buy a roll of gasket paper and a exacto knife. Throw in a magic marker or Sharpie and have at it. Think ...TRACE.

RTV is to be .....well not used. You'll have squeeze out. Squeeze out will run over into the runners and you'll have buggers hanging in the runners, waiting to fall off and engage a apex seal.

That said, I use a smear of RTV on the gasket so the next time I take it off it won't tear up. As in a release agent so to speak. I can't adequately descrige a smear. Smears don't squeeze out and form buggers in the runners.

Yeah all the excess sealant will make it into the runners. I used it as a secondary measure so there are no leaks (ended up being the LIM not sitting right) and noticed rings of sealant on all 4 of the runners still somewhat attached to the gasket when I removed it again. If I had to do it again I'd have used less, and only on the outer edges of the manifolds.

go to mazdatrix.com and order the OE gaskets. it will run about $30shipped and looks wayy better than any RTV will ever do. and dont forget to torque the bolts to spec, i've broken several heads of bolts making it "tight enough"

clean, safe, no dripping, no tracing, no cutting, recommended.

dont cheap out on your car.

Check your area for a rubber and gasket store. There is a local rubber and gasket store that I will take old gaskets in and they will custom cut me the right material. Never had a problem with them, and they are still cheaper than OE
