Talking Rtek to bypass MOP on burned up ECU

So if anyone was interested, I Rtek'd my ECU yesterday, first off, man, what an easy mod. Originally I had a good ECU and I drove the car a little bit (Premixed but knew it was going to hit limp mode when ever it felt like it) Heed the warnings on the forums that you WILL blow up your ECU It's true and it happens like lightning. I babied the car, every time it hit limp mode, I would pull over immediately and let it rest a minute before returning to driving. Well, anyways, long story short, I blew up my ECU.. Limp mode full time, broken...

THERE IS HOPE!!!! A buddy of mine and I were looking at the ECU (we both have electronics engineering degrees) We figured, we can fix this thing... I started explaining to him how the Rtek works and that it bypasses the OMP Circuitry. First thing we noticed was a blown up (not burned but BLOWN UP) MP4501, This is a stepper motor controller. So I desoldered that guy and checked all of the traced around it, since it hadnt been sitting in there just burning for very long, it did really no other damage to the ECU other then a fried trace which we fixed with a little rework wire. We then noticed that a big power resistor is also burned, so we took that guy out too. I then installed the Rtek socket, checked all electrical connections, and then installed the chip.

With my heart pounding, I took the reassembled ECU back out to the car, and decided, here goes nothing... I am either going to drive this car home today, or have it towed It worked! Fired up right away... Strong idle, everything is great!

Basically, I know the question has been asked "If the MOP circuitry is fried, can an Rtek completely bypass it?" I would say "SURE CAN!" as i have all of the parts sitting on the desk next to me. I would recommend removing the burned components from the board however. A shorted or blown up component is not going to work anyways, but it could cause issues as it draws infinite current and bursts into flames :P

Well, I hope this helps someone out, best $100 or so dollars I have spent in a long time.
