rotor bearing removal procedures?

Just wondering what are some of the different methods all of you use to remove/install rotor/main bearings? Do most of you make your own tools for removal? I'm thinking of using a section of pipe that is just a hair smaller in circumference than the bearing to press them out. Also, I may have access to a press machine, but if not will a vice work okay?

thanks

Bouthg the proper tool a long time ago and I just use a press - simple removal. For install, freeze the bearing and warm the rotor. The rotor bearing will turn very slightly clockwise (atleast it does on my press).

I draw a line dwon the side to match the tab then turn the rotor 1/8th of the thickness of the tab counterclockwise - once pressed in it lines up perfectly an once both reach room tempreture the bearing is not movable at all.

did it turn because of your press, or do all bearings turn a little clockwise?

I did this recently. I got a piece of 3" round bar and used it to press tham out. I did freeze the rotors prior to removal and they came off easy.
