Rotary Shotgun
Ill make this as short as possible.
I did the fuel pump re-wire and everything has been working fine, except for the fact that it seems to run rich. However I am getting a nice fuel smell comming from the passenger side, but i cant tell if it is the injectors leaking or just un-burnt fuel in the exhaust.
Today i took it out after sitting for about 2 weeks. About a half a mile down the road it backfired realy loud and died. I checked the engine and the hose from the ACV had came off. That wasnt the problem. I started again and right on the first fire it backfired again. So i checked the engine everything seemed to be fine. After that it wouldnt even turn over just spun. So i pulled the plugs and they were caked in carbon, these plugs have less than a hundred miles on them. Luckily i had a spare set so i replaced them. Started it again and it ran for about 20 seconds then backfired again and died. Thats when i towed it home. I checked the compression and put new plugs in. I noticed that the injector resistor is broke, it just turns with no end.
Could this be the cause of it running rich?
If the injectors are leaking i wouldn't be running rich, right?
Im going tommorrow to the junk yard to pick up another resistor, if anyone has any ideas on other parts i should try please let me know. Thanks

are you talking about the variable resistor for idle mixture? this only affects the mixture under like 2k rpm, i doubt that is your problem but it will idle much better with a good one. had the same problem with my old one, it just spun and spun. got a new one and it idles much better now.
