Rotary Engine Head Bolts.
do you replace the bolts that go through the block of the rotary the same way you would replace head bolts when you do a head job? if so where do i get them?

when you take a head off of a piston engine motor you replace the main head bolts. i know there are people that reuse them but its not safe.

You'd do the same to tension bolts, but most people don't.

From my experiences, if this is the engine's first rebuild, they will all be alright to reuse. It does not matter that they go back in their respective holes; I don't know where that came from.
In reference, Mazda does not mention checking stretch or give values for it in their FSM.

You don't need to keep the bolts in order, but bear in mind that there is one that is longer then the rest. I believe it goes in the bottom left position (looking from the rear).
Clean the bolts up with a wire wheel, being careful not to dig in and damage the threads. If you find a bolt that has damaged threads in the first 1/4 of an inch or so, or that has been badly corroded, replace it.
BTW, these bolts are called "tension bolts". Referring to "heads" or "head bolts" on a rotary is just going to confuse people.
