roasted rotors
Ok i had an engine fire in my 7. I have no i dea how it started but i had a fuel leak somewhere, im thinking the pulsation dampners but im not sure. Anyways my question is if the fire was only going for about 5-10 mins would the block still be good to rebuild the engine or should i just go ahead and order a whole new engine, also would anything else, like underneath the car have possibly gotten damaged? help please.

Sorry to hear that.
I would replace it with a J-spec turbo. Check out this site. http://www.nippon-motors.com/mazda.htm
Tear the old motor down later, and maybe you can sell the rotors and housings if they are good. It would probably cost as much to buy a new motor as it would to piece together all the bad parts from your car. I'm guessing the wire harnesses and stuff are damaged pretty bad. It very well could have been the pulsation damper.

I think the block should be fine. I had a PD caused fire a few months ago and tore the engine apart b/c of blown seals and everything seemed normal. I don't think that a fire like that would warp the housings or anything.

Yea I was sorta leaning towards a new engine, I felt bad when it happend because my step-father had just put 5grand into the car for me for my b-day, so when this happend he told me that what ever i saved up to build my baby back up he would match it. so far i have saved like 4500 so i have almost 9grand to putinto this car. I want to make her a drifter, but im not sure yet. I have to get out of the army before i can start this project but im getting ideas and parts and plans together early. any help you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated! thanx
