My S5 ECU controlled with S5 intake, S4 block will make power to about 8000 just letting off at 8200. Not as hard as it pulls from 6-7200, but it pulls enough to not shift til atleast 7800. I know its probably not that great on the motor, but Im already saving for a rebuild, so its all good.

EDIT: This is with the TB mod, ported intake manifolds, functioning 6 ports and VDI.

close but not quite. the reason an s5 (turbo or non turbo, yes a s5 turbo is internaly good till 8k, but the turbo starts wheazing before then so they gave it a 7k redline) can safely revto 8k is that the rotors and e-shaft are lighter, and the stationary gears are hardened. thus you have less forces on stronger components. the ecu, compression, and flywheel dont realy have anything to do with the redline in this case.

now im not gona give an apsolute peak rpm for a modded but internaly stock s4, but id think reason would keap you under 8k, besides, the stock intakes are well beyond their peak breathing efeciany at this point, so not too much more power will be had up there, even if it does still have some.

imo (opinion, not law) an s5 shouldnt go over 8500, but going anywhere past 8000 is inherently risky for the endurance of the engine.

Be careful with the high revs guys, not really concerned about the safety of the engine but your personal safety. If you plan on revving well past 8000rpm often, get a scatter shield or ballistic blanket installed.

My street port 6 port is built to rev to 9k+ and keeps making power up to the 8k rev limit I have set currently, but I'm not raising it to 9 until I get more steel between my legs and the flywheel. I'm running the RB aluminum flywheel and they state clearly on the web site not to exceed 8700rpm without a scatter shield.

S5 e-shat is the same, its the lighter rotors and hardend gear that primarily acount for the higher redline.

Pengurufoo, are you using a stand alone? im in the same boat, but i am crazy enough to do it without a scatter shield, but cant because of the damn s4 rev limity (rb aluminum fly too,.. im more worried about the clutch exploding then the flywheel honestly) Also if you look at the car, the flywheel and clutch are in front of the firewall,.. so you dont have to worry to much about personal safty,.. just the safty of drivers around you and your cars safty.

My S4 N/A seems to have a rev limiter at 7,900rpm.....followed by a loud backfire. And my secondary ports will not open (no idea why, ports are probably seizd)
