He says it's a completely different part number and he doesnt have one to look at

So I pulled up:
http://www.napaonline.com/masterpage...p+Light+Switch
and
http://www.napaonline.com/masterpage...p+Light+Switch

And those look like the complete wrong part.

Same with the advanced auto stuff:

The Miata switch is the same switch as the Non-turbo, just with different wire colors.

Since you are trying to find a Turbo one, have you tried a relay yet??? Cut the reverse wire in the driver's kick panel.

Now you have two sides of the reverse light wire.

Side going to the rear of the car, on pin 30 of a relay.
Side going to the front/dash, on pin 86 of the relay
Fused (10 amps) 12+ volts on pin 87 of the relay
Ground on pin 85 of the relay.

That will fixed the switch 90% of the time.

And the mid-eighties Ford F150 used the R type tranny too, so you might try a Ford dealer.

I am trying to find turbo

A relay would do nothing, as the switch only reacts one out of every ten times (if I'm lucky) and usually not at all.

Nope, try it.
See the switch needs to handle around 7 amps for the reverse lights to work. That load causes the contacts in the switch to gum up with carbon.

Yet the relay only needs 50mA of contact to work.

I have yet to have a bad reverse light switch that was not fixed with a relay.

Allright, I turned up the multimiter and it DOES have a VERY small change.

You're probably right! You have given me renewed hope!

Also: The F150 sensor looks completely different :/

When you say "Cut 'the' reverse wire" Do you mean Red/Green or Black/Yellow? I am assuming Red/Green, I'm just making sure here.

The stock TII switch is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.
the top switch look like it is for an NA I almost positive it is

Red/green

Black/yellow is ignition power. Not the reverse lights.

How on earth did you get this plug tight with the transmission in the car?

I forgot to put my sensor in before I installed the tranny. And I can`t get it tight.

If that is the reverse switch

Which is th 5th gear switch (the one that defeats the shift light when in 5th gear)?

It's the same switch, it's the green wires coming out of the switch

The red ones are for the reverse lights . . . . .

AND ICEMARKS RELAY IDEA WORKS!!

Yes, it's time to put it in the FAQ, cuz i couldnt find it when I searched for every imaginable iteration of Reverse switch, Back-up light, whatever :p

Also, almost everyone I know with a TII, their switch is broken.

Only one Green/red running to the rear in the drivers kick panel harness.

And you are using a digital multi-meter right???

i found it...it was a green/red stripe WITH blue dots on it...there is like three sets of looms in that batch....2 go near the CPU and one goes towards the engine bay..i was searching the ones going near the CPU...i installed the relay and sure enough it works..
now will this cure the shift light in 5th gear also?

*edit...got the wire colors mixed up...lol...they should be right now...i hope...i did it this morning..cant remember the colors now...what a day!!!

I'm actually in need of a replacement reverse/5th switch myself

I do have a couple two wire JSpec versions from JSpec TII trannys which I assume are designed for back-up light only. So, if I use one of those and want the shift light to go away while in 5th gear otherwise (as it really bugs), I need to rig up a manual switch to make the system think the 5th gear is engaged?

Alternatively, does anyone have an ASpec one for sale or trade?

I had a auto tranny before and now i have a manual but the 5th gear sensor's "connectors" dont match up, only one does. Where does the two other peices go with the "prongs:"

Can i just connect the wires and try differnet combos til it works?

I'm going to have to try Icemark's idea.

But could you be a little more informative about this repair because I'm not understanding the relay thing. Maybe a step by step would be more appropriate..... and I do so love pictures
