restoring ftp lenses!!

Thumbs up restoring ftp lenses!!

Hey guys, I know that I've seen a thred on polishing the lens but I couldn't find it anywhere. If anyone knows how or knows were the thred is please help. I would rather try to restore them then to pay for a new pair.

Thumbs up If you're just talking about restoring the lense clarity

Just polish them with a good liquid car wax. You'll be surprised at the difference.

Yep. I was gunna post something myself. My GF recently got an MX6 and I know anyone thats seen one knows how the headlights get all yellow on them. I used some Nu Finish car wax and it helped out alot. I also used some armor-all all purpose cleaner and it helped more. It seems to just be oxidation.

it looks like the FTP lens have some sort of coating ont hem... like a film or something that protects them? one of my FTP lens is peeling.

Me three! It looks almost like clearcoat of some sort. I'll probably try to peel the rest of mine off and then wax / polish it one of these days... Really looks like crap the way it is

A little of topic but I waxed my 89 tail lights. I couldn't believe the difference on how well they turned out. After washing them I used Mothers Carnuba Wax. I tell ya, the freaken rag was Black. My lights are amazing looking especially In the nightime.

My lens are peeling too thats basicly what I was wondering that if there was a way to sand and polish off the old and polish them out to almost new. any Ideas.

actually the best to use on them... is meguires #66 or if you cant find that look for meguires cleaner wax. i have been a detailer for 2 years and you would not beleve how easy that stuff works compared to others.

you can also do it to your faded taillights and if you have water spots on your side mirrors you can buff them out as well.
