Resistors Needed?

I have an 86na converted to S4 t2 using the na harness and NO emissions the problem is when i touch the acceleration sometimes it goes sometimes it dies. The gas that was in it was pretty old so i drained and refilled with new. the problem persists

ive read about using inline resistors but am not quite clear on why or if i need them.

The resistors your speaking of are probably the fuel injector ones.

S4 cars came wit two style ofr injectors. High and low impedance.
High impedance runs off 12 volts.
Low impedance runs around 3-5volts

The injectors have different notches on them to prevent you from putting the wrong type into a specific harness.

So,
If you can plug them in with no issues then your using the right ones.

Unless you shaved off the notch on the injector to make it fit.

-------------------------------
Did you check your fuel filter? maybe it's clogged?
Did you go over the wiring harness? Maybe you've got a bad wire or sensor..

the injector plugs right in and the walbrow pump and filter are new so?

Would using butt connectors instead of solder on the injector wires cause a problem? my friend did the harness and said it would be fine but i have my doubts

im so confused because it starts right up and idles (roughly) by itself, i even took it around the block a couple times (at the stop signs i would have to crank it over again because it would die on decceleration)

Jesus. Your friend needs to be kept away from wiring harnesses if he thinks butt connectors on fuel injectors are ok.

There's lots of vibration where they are routed and they are VITAL to your engine not going boom.

So why did your friend mess with the injector wires? They don't need to be cut to work on a TII if I remember right. Did he just extend them or swap on new plugs?

I am going to blame the engine harness for your troubles but check some basic stuff first.

yeah some of the injector clips were broken during disasembly so he put new ones on. He claims to have done a swap like this before so i was going along with what he said. I will definatley solder the wires ( i dont have any money for a rebuild at the moment!)

Thanks for the info ill let you guys know if it solves my problem
