requesting info/advice on replacing WG flapper door on ser 4 turbo

I am porting a back up ser 4 turbo right now and have a guy who can weld for me for lil $. What can I get to have welded in place of the stock "door" for the WG. i dont have access or $ to get another cars turbo as a door donor. Also can the new door be welded right to the arm, or does it need that existing little bit of "pivotability"? Do any of you have any first hand experience with this? Between a 50 shot of nitrous, and a compressor upgrade I am sure that the size of that stock "peepee hole WG" door will not be sufficient.

Someone on one of these forums (can’t remember who, sorry whoever you are!) welded a VW valve shim to the stock flap. Hopefully this DIY legend (or someone that knows him) will post.

This is probably no use to you (sorry!), but I plan to you the flapper off the 12A Turbo compressor housing sitting in my garage. Despite the fact the housing is a lot smaller that the 13BT one, the wastegate port is considerably bigger! It has at least double the flow area, and the flapper is obviously much bigger too. It’ll be the perfect donor!

I used an exhaust valve from a head in the junkyard. I found one that had the correct diameter shaft, machined the valve face to the max diameter that will fit , cut it a bit longer than needed, heated the stem red hot and gave it a whack to mushroom it. This maintained "pivotability."

Still won't stop boost creep in my experience.
