replacing vac lines (broke pieces, need names)

Im replacing all the vac lines which have never been done and I snapped the plastic off two pieces, I have no clue their names for finding a replacement part.. Im hoping with some pictures someone can help identify the parts, so I know what to tell the clueless guys behind the counter. Thanks for the help!

So with this part one of the small port on the bottom next to the big one snapped off. I used some Epoxy and WITHOUT closing the hole managed to get it back on there, but im worried under heat it might die again.

Dealer only????

The second item I broke was in the "NEST" i think people call it of vacuum hoses, they were so brittle it made me cry. so I think this piece is hollow and just splits the vacuum to four places... I label'ed the lines well, and im 95% sure I have them going to the right places in the same order they were before... If anyone knows what this part is if I have it mixed up witht he other guys will it hurt something.... the 4 ports look to go to very similar diaphram things going into the engine block, but this plastic piece really just looks like a vacuum line being split into smaller ones.

It feels like and looks like these lines were never replaced.. and I didnt have the skill to take it off.. I am in California and I do need to pass smog, so im sure these items are needed for emissions. So I need to keep them functioning..

For this item I think its basic and i can pick up a 1 --> 4 way splittler for vaccum hose as long as its the same size, thats all it appears to be to me, I hope someone can shed some light on my newbie ways of breaking things.

Thanks again !

The first item is the purge control valve; try Mazda or a wrecker.

I made the same mistake the first time I seperated the vacuum hoses off the Purge Valve. I broke the same nipple. No amount of gluing or even heating up saved It. You'll need a replacement...or just launch It.

I've done my vacuum lines and broke the two same parts.

The first part is the PCV (purge control valve)like NZConvertible said. Since you have broken yours, it's a good time to consider making and using a catch can... but I doubt you would be able to pass the visual inspection for emissions with a catch can.

Anyway, I got the Purge Valve from a junkyard for $5 after some haggling. If you prefer the dealership the part number is

Valve, purge 1480-20-950A

The other piece is a vacuum splitter pipe for your oil injectors. jhjc52 has posted a link to Mazdatrix where you can get it. You could probably get one from the junkyard.. but it would be a pain to pull. If you prefer the dealership

connector, air-tube N326-14-617

Next time use a razor blade to slit the hose at the nipple. The epoxy SHOULD have worked and should last forever. If you epoxy a nipple....its best to take a toothpick and apply vaselline or the equivilant to the toothpick and put it down in the nipple to hold everything square. After the epoxy has started to set...pull the toothpick out. It should not be glued to the epoxy because you used the vaseline as a release agent. BUT....after fifteen years its time to replace the Purge Valve. The diaphram is probably getting something less than malable.

The oil injector spider.......buy another but if you just use some aftermarke splitter like you mentioned. A leaking or broken vac line on a oil injector splitter can't cause a irregular idle by the way. The suction/vacuum is from the rotor, not the throttle body, so its used a source of filtered air from the throttle body. Make sense?

My favorite tool - bent tip long nose pliers.

They allow you to pull stuck hoses straight off the nipple without any sideways force.
They are also great for hard to reach places.

Alright thanks for the tips everyone... the purge valve seems to be holding up with the epoxy(but when I get some time I will go get another), I haven't put the car back togeather yet... But for the Vacuum splitter pipe, I was hoping to try and get the car back togeather today (since ive got to smog/register it by the 1st)

Some of it makes sense, but I couldn't figure out from the wording weither or not you were telling me to go for an After market for Oem replacement... Sorry

Will an after market vacuum spider work as long as it is the right sizes? I have a hose techniques kit ive been replacing the hoses with. If anyone has had any bad experiences with using an afermarket replacement then I will just order it and wait... That vaccuum splitter is also $47 dollars and all it does is split up vaccum!

I am thinking it has specific sizes that is the reason it might cost so much....

Thanks again for the help everyone.

Yes, my wording , phrasing sucks. I meant go to Pepboys etc and just get whatever it takes in vac splitters to make it work. Three sixteenths is the hose size. P.S. I was dumb enough to buy a new one once a long time ago. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Since then I learned a little. I don't even mount that spider under the intake anymore. I find it too confining there and mounted it on the engine bulkhead near the wipers.

Alright so I got a new spider today in the mail and it looks like the rubber hoses are pre formed on it, so I should leave them on there instead of trying to replace them with the hoses from hosetechniques?

The hoses that came on it look like quality stuff, so I don't think theres any reason to NOT use them, unless anyone begs to differ?

Thanks!
