replacing RB presilencer with a custom pipe
I currently have the RB True Duel Exhaust. Im tired of scraping my RB road race presilencer on speed bumps. I would atleast gain a 2-3 inch clearance If I remove the presilencer so out it goes. What would be the pros/cons of having a custom straight pipe welded on the the headers to the Y-pipe to replace the presilencer? Would my aux ports still have the same performance if I decide to get a custom pipe and is It worth it? I will not raise my car up so thats not an option lol.

Search for "straight piped" or something and you'll find dozens of threads just like this one.
I'll save you the trouble and answer with minimal reasoning. It will be too loud, end of story. When RotaryRocket88 used the term, "deafening," that wasn't much of an overstatement. If you use a "straight through" style muffler, it will literally hurt. Now search if you want more explanation.

Terrible idea. You will hate yourself, almost as much as your neighbors will. Why not find an oval muffler and henne some flanges welded on and orient that so u get maximum clearance? Heck, run 2 straight through style mufflers before u go straight pipe, it sounds like *** on a rotary.

well the car is pretty low. the presilencer is about 4-5 inches above the floor. hmm i like that flange idea. yeah when i bought the car the previous owner had a 5 inch straight through. it was unbearable too loud haha.

Bringing this thread back! I just installed this pre silencer and have run into the same problem except my clearance now is 2-3" off the ground. Is this just how it is? It seems awfully low. Basically ruins my plans to run coil overs and go lower. lol
-On a side note I bought the car with a straight 3" exhaust to single muffler. Sounded good
-Switched back to stock exhaust with gutted cat. Sounded OK
-Installed RB True Dual header & custom piping straight to stock mufflers. LOUD and sounded like ***
-Installed the RB True Dual pre silencer after the header then cut piping a foot after. (I did this because the current piping wouldn't fit without bending the pipes and I had no access to a bender.) LOUD as hell and sounds like *** (though better than just the header to the mufflers)
Will reinstall stock mufflers after the pre silencer this weekend and will report back. eventually I'll be able to afford the road race headers. lol
