replacing fuel filter questions
Ok when I was trying to remove my in tank filter today I got that metal plate off and tried unscrewing the tiny screws (about 6 screws i think) that would lead me into the actual tank. I don't think i'm going to be able to get those screws out cause they seem to be rusted out or something, so is there any way to cut them off? Anyways I ordered this filter:

I ordered it from mazda performance and it is the original mazda fuel filter. I thought there were two total fuel filters in the car, one in the tank and one in the engine bay, correct? Will that come with both fuel filters I need or what? I was also wondering if there was some kind of procedure to do this the right way and to make sure nothing catches fire/blows up after i'm done... thank you!

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
The in-tank pick up filter can be cleaned, but the actual fuel filter (just below the brake master cyl) is what you will want to replace. The one on the Mazdaformance page is the correct one for replacing the main (under the brake master) filter.
Make sure you do all fuel system work outside of the garage, and away from fire or flame (like hot water or house heaters, clothes dryers, etc)
Un bolt the bracket (two 10 mm bolts). Usually easier to get to from under the car.
Cut the fuel lines as close to the filter as you can.
Pull out the filter. Remove the clamps and slide them back onto the fuel lines still in the car.
Replace the fuel filter on the bracket.
Re-install the filter making sure the lines are facing the correct way.
Check for leaks and spilled gas, then start and check for leaks again.
