Replacing Carpet : need help
I'm replacing my carpet on a 91 vert. Is there an easy way to get the carpet out from under the console dash without removing the whole dash?
Would really appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks

Nope, thats the only way to do it. Unless you just cut around it, then cut out that area in the new one, and just kinda tuck it under, Thats how mine was untill i just said fuckit and removed the carpet anyways. But you really can't tell and it looks good if you just cut it out like that.

Thanks Chris.
Do you know any good places to get aftermarket carpets? Mazdatrix doesn't seem to carry them.
Before I replace the carpet, I'm trying to clean up some residual trans fluid that seaped into the cabin on the floor of the car. Any suggestions on a good degreaser or cleanup method for the metal floor, now that my carpet is ripped out?
Thanks

Thanks guys!
Been doing searches...must have missed some of these. However, have looked on the web and called at least 10 aftermarket Mazda RX7 carpet mfgs. None sell for a vert. I'll try RX7World and these above. Thanks a million for the help guys!

BTW, you DO need 'vert carpet - it's raised under the seat to add room for the extra bracing in the 'vert. You could *maybe* get coupe carpet to work, but if you're doing that much work you really should do it right!
Removing the dash isn't as hard as it seems, BTW. Just have to take your time.

RX7World did the trick. Got one on order. The guy I spoke to was very helpful and offered to assist in talking me through the dash removal and replacement. AWESOME.
Now, I've found that my sound deadening pads are also saturated with tranny fluid. Heard that I could bust those out by freezing (cold ice packs) them and striking the the floor with a hammer to shatter them out like peanut brittle. Anybody tried this before?
Any suggestions on where I could get new sound deadening material and the adhesive? This isn't a very common item to replace....
Thanks

Looking for sound deadening material
Saw some theads about using dry ice to freeze the sound deadening material and crack it out. Tried it...worked great.
Just need to find replacements for my Vert now. No luck finding any aftermarket mtl yet. Anybody have any sources I can try?
