Replacement bulb (foglight) hard to find? NO!

i was at kragen the other day, and i really wanted my stock foglights to work (one bulb was blown) and they have a bulb thats called H3, not H3C which is "supposedly" the only bulb you can put in it. well i bought it for the hell of it, and if it didnt fit i was going to MAKE it (because it looks VERY sililar to the stock one)... well to my suprise after thinking that the bulb was so hard to get and expensive from [u]reading on past threads!!![\u] it fits PERFECT, H3 IS the bulb you need, not H3C... so if you guys are looking to replace your stock foglight bulbs, go out and get yourself a H3 foglight bulb!!!

i also read on here that its supposed to be 55W but who knows, the more wattage the brighter, but i got a 55W to be on the safe side. HERES a link to what it looks like.

HERES the Kragen bulb i bought!

I posted a thread a WHILE ago about how to do a disgustingly simle mod to allow you to use standard H3 bulbs in the foglights. This means you can run 100w hiper whites or whatever you want.
You never need to buy those crappy proprietary 55w ones again.
You just modify the socket to accept the h3 bulb- it fits right in, no cutting or anything, you justhave to put the wires on it.

Interesting, I never replaced my burnt out bulb because of the price. If that works, that's great.

I stocked up on factory bulbs a while back at a junk yard. fifty cents each. Or you can wear baggy pants.

H3C isn't exactly hard to find, you can find them in all the ricey flavors too, since hyper white was mentioned in this thread.

ive already seen your thread, and you DONT need to buy the bulb by itself and modify anything! these H3 foglight bulbs come with the metal frame and wire thing already attached, its direct drop in replacement.

yeah but ive noticed most ricer shops sell generic cheap *** bulbs that blow out in a week. PIAA also sells the H3 foglight bulb and their names are also similar to this. check HERE, however i just got a pair of some sylvania silverstar H3's to match my silverstar sealed beam headlights, so thats what i did (but they ran me $20 ea.)... i was also thinking about getting some of those PIAA ion crystal yellow ones too, ive always liked the looks of the Lexus IS300 fogs, plus it might perform better as well in the fog.

the H3's do fit right in but the wiring is totaly different.... they have a wire and a metal frame. the stock bulb has 2 male prongs sticking right outa it.

but they can be easily moded.

ohhhh ic, maybe mine where already changed, but i dont see any kind of modification done to it, it screws in to place in the same spot in the housing, and the other wire screws down into the metal frame on the H3, the H3 even has the little slots in the metal frame to fit into place the right way. its pretty simple to crimp a male connector prong onto a new wire though, with a loop end for the one that screws down, i replaced my wire with a new one with new connectors.
