Whats the secret to removing the stocck shifter **** from my 87 5 speed?? Gary

i hear ya...mine is like stuck on there, like no matter how hard i turn, either way, it doesnt do anything. I dont know what to do when i get a short shifter...cut the handle off? haha...we will see

Pull the leather cover down and you will see a silver locknut. TIGHTEN that one down (rotate it so it goes away from the ****), and the **** should then twist off.
