Remove windshield
How do you remove 87 Rx windshield and what do you need to do so. Has anyone did this. Reason is I am doing body work and there rust around the windsheild becuase the original owner had some one replaced and they did not replace the seal around the windshield.

I am going to strongly reccomed against removing the windshield, leave it to the pros. Removing the windshield requires a handful of special tools, and is sealed using special sealants, all of which are not readily available at common carparts stores like carquest (lol, who actually goes there )

Good advice, the windshield is an integral part of the body structure, it needs to be done RIGHT!
At the the very least, you could remove it yourself (or have a shop do it) then definitly have the windshield shop re-install it after the bodywork is done.
The adheasives used are special and have to cure before the car is driven...

I have to remove mine to get at a rattle.
A professional may be a good idea. However, if you want to remove it you need to get ALL the trim off around it, inside and out, then you stick some strong wire through the sealant and use it to saw through it the whole way around. It's in the FSM.
Getting it off will be easier than properly installing it.
I think I'm just gonna to to a glass shop and pay the money.

I just got my windshield replace from a local glass supply place for 150 bux, I watch them do it, you need a special knife to cut through the gasket material, then you need to get an all purpose gasket sealer, that repeals water and what not, I believe you can find it at most auto stores.

The mystery of the prize.
it's easy, i've done it before on fieros. You use piano wire to cut through the sealant after poking a hole for the wire to get through... use two guys one in the car one out to saw the piano wire back and forth til the seal is cut all the way around teh window. then just lift it out.
you have to remove the trim etc obviously before you can reach this stuff.
suction cup handles used for installing glass and ceramic/tiles can be useful for removal and installation too.

That is basicily what my dad said to do.
Another question:
Where would you get the seal for it? Mazda dealer maybe

What seal?
If your referring to the strips that run around the edges, yes you can get them from Mazda, otherwise the windshield uses no 'seals'
Remember, it is glued in with a special adheasive...

No, I think there is a pre-formed rubber piece that is around the windshield with the special adheasive. That is what it looks like on my Turbo II (windsheild is factory)
