Digi- your backup lights don't use the 5th/rev switch, they have a seperate reverse switch, on the left side of the tranny (at least on S4 NA's)
I've got a TII tranny.
The switch closest to the shifter was MIA when I got the thing. The part is discontinued everywhere too

I still have the Neutral switch on the side of the tranny though.

My main fuse is stuck, it wont come out... All the other ones came out just fine. But this one wont come out at all. Is this a sign that it's blow? I have a spare from my old TII.

look in it... If it is not blown then there is no reason. Does antyhing else work electrically? It is not likely blown

Digi, did you ever get your baby up & running without any more problems?

Bardock- just look at the fuse first- you can (usually) tell if the center strip is fried...

Everything works inside the car. All the guages light up. Windows roll up and down. Radio works. When I turn the key into the on position I hear a buzzing noise inside the engine bay. An electrical buzzing. When I try and start the car I hear something spinning as if the starter motor is spinning. But the motor doesn't budge. Doesn't even try and turn over. Nothing in the engine seems to work. I just hear strange electric noises and nothing happends.

It sounds like your solenoid is kicking in, but the magnetic coil is not "throwing" the spindle out to engage the flywheel...

You're going to need to remove the starter, then put some power on the solenoid (and have a ground), then watch the plunger- it should extend out & start spinning as soon as power is applied...

Did you drop the starter or anything?

Nope starter was chillin' on the floor the whole time it was out never touched it.

How the hell do I add power to it when it's out? Can I just pull it off and leave it connected and try?

Hmmm, never tried it that way...I guess it would work, though, because the ground goes directly back to the battery (you're going to have to find a way to bolt the ground back up to it once removed), and the pos too, through the solenoid/ignition switch. How are you going to look at it while turning the key though?

If it was me I'd grab a couple of jumper wires that I have and just do it from the battery, so I could watch it in action...Whatever floats your boat...

lmao You actually think that'll work? I'm gonna try just for fun. After that I'm removing it and seeing if it works or not.

Thanks for all your help. I'm gonna do this one last thing and probably call it a night. If I still can't figure it out I'll revive this thread tomorrow.
