hey whats up guys.. i have a Redom ECU sitting in my garage and was wanting to put it on my car.. im running the stock turbo and .5bar and the ECU has a bunch of japanese writing and says .5 bar so i figure its tuned for .5 bar
anyways my question is, theres a black box on the side of the ECU. It looks like some sort of plug goes on it. Do I need to hook that black box up to a plug anywhere?? or does the harness just plug directly into the ECU and dont worry about the black box? if anyone needs pics ill post em.

I could be that since the stock ecu got an upgraded chip by redom.. it must be a plug for redom to retune the upgraded chip. Kinda like evo's get flashes done through usb ports.

 

.5 Bar? Not hardly anything a stock ecu cant handle...

 

well the litle box isnt connected to the ECU at all.. its just screwed on the housing. the ECU says N374 and so does the little box. and im sorry.. the ECU doesnt say .5bar.. it says .5kg/cm ROM type HS102 C Type

thoes black boxes come on all jdm ecu's. it isnt necessary. there is a thread about thoes things and nobody has been able to give a definative answer as to their purpose.

 

Oops... I read a little bit into it and noticed you had asked about it on that thread too FrankV702. Sorry about that. Anyway, 87 t-66 is right I guess. My JDM ECU came with a little black box. It wasn't the Redom ECU, but it was an N340 I think... I forget. Well, good luck.

I searched for information on google and didn't really find anything. So, I checked Ebay and I'm not quite sure how accurate this is but this is what the item description had said:

THIS IS FOR THE SERIES 5 SECOND GENERATION RX7 FC3S WITH 13B-T MOTOR(89-91).
SPEED LIMITTER HAS BEEN CUT, IGNITION TIMING HAS BEEN REFINED, THE REV LIMITTER HAS BEEN RAISED, BOOST UP, EXHAUST SYSTEM(FRONT PIPE, MUFFLER, DOWNPIPIE), STOCK TURBINE, 1.5 TIMES LARGER INTERCOOLER.

I am not sure if that information was for this specific Redom ECU or all Redom ECU's.
