Redline MT-90?

Is this something you can pick up at a cheesy auto parts store (autozone)?

If not, where do you guys who use it order it from?

Getting my trans rebuilt and I want to keep it in good shape.

No. Only certian stores carry it. I used Royal Purple 85w and I love it! You can use either one, but they are both VERY expensive! It cost me over $40 for enough fluid to do my tranny!

hehe yeah but it cost me $1200 for the rebuild

I see they have two kinds of Redline - MT-90 and MTL. MT-90 is the 75/90 GL-4 oil. Which do I want?

Redline's website has a list of distributors. Redline 80-90 is great! I just did a gear oil change in my G20 and it shifts much nicer. Takes away some of the notchieness.

DO NOT USE MTL!!!! It is EVIL!! Only use MT-90! I have spoken to several guys around here who have actually draind their Redline for Royal Purple! They are basically the same, it just depends which you can find! MTL is not thick enough, and from all I have read/heard, will hurt your nice tranny!

MT-90 is thicker than MTL, other it's basically thing with different viscosities.&nbsp Redline recommends MT-90 for ALL FC3S models.&nbsp The factory service manual recommends 75W90 weight fluid in the transmission - Redline MT-90 is the 75W90 fluid for the transmission.

I put Redline's 75w90 in my '88 SE's trans, and cold-temperature shifting (in NJ) is much better. It had been a bit grindy going into 2nd and 3rd when cold. Much easier now.

Does anyone have anything bad to say about Redline MT-90? How about Royal Purple?

Redline MT-90 in the tranny is the best choice, noticable difference over conventional 75W-90 and IMO better than the Royal Purple which has a slightly higher sulfer content which may (or may not) lead to early syncro failure.

MT 90 should not be used in your dif though.

For the diff though I prefer the Mobil One full synthetic.

Here's where I get my MT-90:

Only $8 a quart.

ReTED -

The Factory Service manual recommends SAE 80W-90. Are you guys sure that in the long term 75W90 synthetic is ok to run with?
