Question Red Line = Bad?

This question is for all of you experienced guys... Any advice will be much apreciated!!

First of all I'll like to mention that I'm new to rotaryes, anyway here's the question.

How bad is to red line frequently...I'll say 3 to 4 times a day?
I've just had my exaust done a few weeks at go and It's crazy, as soon as I hit the gas the engine revs. so fast that I hit the red line constantly.

I drive an '86 n/a with basic mods.

Cold air intake, under the fender sucking air trough the brake cooler duct.
RB Road Race header to a 13" long collector 2.5" outlet to a round magnaflow mufler ( used as silencer ) 2.5 pipe back to a single fart can.
10mm Magnecor plug wires.
gutted Interior .
A/C & heater totally removed from engine bay and under dash, P/S, air pump removed.

Please advise!!

depends on what you define as "redlinling" when ever i drive mine, i go up to about 6000 about 10 times, granted i drive it long enough to get it up to operating temperature. the torque curve drops off at 6800 rpm for a stock ported 6-port 13b, so i've heard. so as long as your shifting about at the pre-redline beep, about 6600, your fine. but if your going above 7000, dont expect your motor to last too long

no way at all. Bring the motor to 8k at least once everytime you drive it to clean the carbon out of the housings. These motors will live at higher RPMs if you maintain the car properly. Theres absolutly NO reason why you can hit 8k at least 2 or 3 times when you drive, just make sure the cars warm ect ect.

Mazda wouldn't put the limiter at 8100 for no reason..

I second that. On any car it's a good idea to wind it up a bit now and then. You'll see a LOT more carbon buildup in a car that was granny-shifted it's entire life. If it wasn't safe, then the manufacturer would've lowered the rev limit.

Now I don't recommend revving the engine while cold. I definitely wouldn't put load on the car while the engine is still cold.

Periodic redlining like you're doing isn't a big deal. If you do a search on the topic you'll find a million people spouting off about how you should redline your engine constantly. It stands to reason that you don't want carbon buildup, but it also stands to reason that the harder you beat on your engine the less time it will last. (granted these engines withstand such abuse well) I have no idea what the ideal amount is, but I would suggest it would be something like a redline a week. I would suggest that most of us redline our engines pretty often.

Reving above the redline (eg. 8k in a S4 with a 7k redline) is a bad idea. The redline was put there for a reason and the stock oiling system doesn't work as well above redline.

Sounds good!!

I usually shift a little after the pre-redline beep... right at 7k rpm and I've done one or two 8k ocasionally so I guess I'm safe.
