Arrow rebuilt motor problems

I have a 87 T2 with about 108000 on the chassis and about 2k on the rebuilt motor. For about 2 weeks now I have been hearing this strange noise that sounded like metal hitting metal. It happens as soon as I start the car and is louder and more constant, but when it is at operating temperature it is not as loud. I was driving the other day and all of a sudden the car started to rev up on its own between 1,500rpm and 2,000rpm which seemed to be ful throttle. The throttle responce was very strange and only seemed to do anything past 1/2 wot. I checked the coolant level because a freind of mine with me said the same thing happened to his fd when his collant seal went. It was a little low I put about 1/2 quart or so into the overflow and the radiator cap. I was able to park it close by so I put about 3-4 miles on the engine in this condition, which I know I should have put none but I put as few miles as possible. Unfortunatley the oil pressure would not go down prior to turning the car off, which is also very bad I hate turning the car off without letting it cool down enough, but it wasn't going to go down. Also, I am not sure it is related or not but it happened at the same time, I began to get brake fade. I had a hard time slowing down and obviously as a result of the self rev idle my clutch started to wear. I checked vacuum line for the break booster and it appeared to be at least intact.
If anyone knows any reason as to why my car my be doing any of what I listed I would really appreciate any advice/help/comments you may. I am located in southeren California, Del Mar. I was told that Spd's shop was the best closest rotary shop to go to but I cant seem to find a website, so if anyone from spd or anyone who knows the site for spd could post something I would appreciate it.

sounds like a vacum leak for sure, but where.
had the same problem on my yj, turns out a couple of bolts fell out from the intake manifold.
i would check torque on all the bolts holding everything together.

I had the same problem on MY YJ.... Thats weird... a bolt fell out of the intake manifold.... and it revv'd like crazy.... My brakes didn't go out or anything... and I didn't hear metal on metal clanking.. Gotta love jeeps though... they'll take a bullet and keep running.

But TTrashFC... You heard metal on metal clanking and you kept driving it? Geeze man.. I'm hesitant to even guess what it could be... Lets hope it was an exhaust shield or something. Actually, its a T2... could a vacuum leak cause detonation/knocking? That might be the noise...

So yeah. vacuum leak all the way.

get brake cleaner and start to spray away try to find that leak and give those motor mounts a second look, they might look good from the outside but they can be jacked up too from the inside
