For sure will need a rotor housing, and will be searching this site for one of those good deals...
By the way, I see folks refer to "FC"'s and "FD"'s. What are these designations?
Am also curoius to find out what finish is appropriate on the side housings, as I can resurface these myself. I've not been able to find any print on this subject as of yet.
Also, I'm assuming the rotor housings should be dressed in some manner to facilitate apex seal break-in. Anybody got the poop on that?
Also, if I've shown to be brain-dead anywhere above, please don't hesitate to bring it up. I'm thinkin' these things are pretty interesting, and I might have to get in the business......

FC's and FD's are how the generations of RX-7 are classified as. The FB is the First gen 79-85 model, the FC is the 86-91 model, and last but not least the FD being the 93-well present day.

all the FC and FD and FB and SA22C are from the VIN #s of the cars
if you have worked with other engines very much then the rotary shoudnt be too much of a problem
new housings are definately good (necessary w/ apex seal damage), but i dont really know what you meant by "type of finish"... i know you dont want them looking like a mirror b/c the seals wont break in right or something
How would you resurface the side plates?
Also (some people were talking about it just the other day) is that the side plates have a nitride (sp?) treatment to strenghthen them and resurfacing them can take some of that off and cause them to wear faster. I think that might be a little debatable though.
All i did w/ my engine was put a lot of the engine pre-lube grease stuff (forget what its called) and oil all over the parts for that first start up. Then just followed normal break in procedure.
