Rebuild Time!

But not for my motor. I have a '87 TII transmission bolted up to my '89 N/A. The transmission was part of a 5 speed swap. Came out of a beat to **** TII with over 150k on it. Now I'm running royal purple max gear in it now. And its very driveable. As long as you don't beat on it. Then "crunch" all the way to 3rd (If I can get the damn thing from sticking.) So I'll be rebuilding it in spring. Now a buddy of mine will be doing the work and is charging me $350+ parts. So should I just rebuild with factory parts and have it thrown back together? Or are there some goodies I might as well throw in while its apart? Also whats an estimate on syncros and seals? Possibly 2nd gear?
