Rebuild n/a s4 or s5??
My car is a 90 gxl with about 170,000 KILOMETERS lol. I want to rebuild the engine my self, and possible do a street port to it. So it will take some time. So should i
A.wait for my engine to blow then rebuild
B.get a parts car off a neighbour for about 200. Rebuild that engine an put it in my car. Its a s4 though
C. Rebuild my engine now
D. Look for a blown s5 and rebuild that engine

DO NOT wait for your engine to blow..... if you rebuild it before it blows, there is a good chance that your rotor housings will still be good.. If it blows an apex seal and drags pieces of it all over hells creation, its an automatic new rotor housing!!!!
If you got the cash... rebuild your engine now... its winter and you live in Toronto!!!! You'll hate the S4 after having an S5.....
a blown S5 goes back to the apex seal problem.. however.. there are differen't strages of blown.. if the water seals went only, then there is a good chance the motor is in good shape....

you'll actually have a little bit more torque out of a s4 block, because the rotors are cast in the pre 89 block, that is what helps torque a bit because of the weight of the actual rotor. The pro 89 blocks had milled rotors which were lighter in weight by a couple of ounces. Other than that there really is not much difference. My pennies say that you should port and polish and rebuild something. Why wait for it to blow? You'll just end up costing yourself more money and hassle trying to find a good rotor and rotor housing.
