Rebuild or 91 Jspec?
I'm about to pick up a 88 TII with about 100,000 miles on it. I was wondering if it was worth it to buy a 91 jspec or just get the existing one rebuild with a street port. They will cost around the same excluded the sreetport for the rebuild. Also does anybody know any good shops in the in the LA/San Bernardino area to perform this swap or just to get the motor in and out for a rebuild. Thanks.

first if you get the j-spec get an 87-88. it'll save some head aches.
I would much rather have a rebuilt engine over a j-spec. a j-spec is just a used engine that has been sitting for a while...

it would be best to have a full rebuild done once you get the jspec. theyre basically hit or miss. you could get one thats been babied, oil changed every 1000 miles, etc. or you could get one that had the **** driven out of it, no oil changes, etc. and end up having to rebuild anyways. With a rebuild you get basically a brand new engine.
